Glyn Smallwood – Founding Director
Glyn founded Smallwood Interior Designs™ after mastering traditional upholstery through apprenticeships at Rogers Upholstery and A-Scott and Duride. With over 25 years of experience in frame design, hand stitching, and springing techniques, Glyn has worked on prestigious projects like Chatsworth House. His craftsmanship and attention to detail built the company’s strong reputation. Glyn remains a respected industry figure, admired for his friendly nature and customer care.

Ash Smallwood – Co-Founding Director
Ash grew up learning upholstery alongside his father, Glyn, and now leads the company into new commercial markets. With a strong background in engineering and design, Ash brings technical expertise and creativity to every project. His dedication to honest service and perfection ensures client satisfaction. Ash upholds the business’s values while pushing innovation forward.

Rachel Reeve – Office Clerk / Sales Rep
As Glyn’s daughter, Rachel has been part of the business from the age of 17. With hands-on experience and a deep understanding of operations, she plays a key role in customer communication, quotes, and project completion. Rachel's friendly nature, professionalism, and attention to detail make her a vital part of the Smallwood team.

Peter Renshaw – Workshop Foreman
Peter began his upholstery career in 1975, gaining nine years of factory experience before becoming a cornerstone at Smallwood. As the workshop foreman, he brings decades of craftsmanship in traditional upholstery techniques, mentoring the team with pride and passion. Peter’s knowledge of webbing, springing, and stuffing is unmatched, making him the heartbeat of the workshop.

Laura Foster – Upholsterer
With a 1st Class Honours Degree in Fashion Design, Laura brings a creative edge to upholstery. Originally focused on clothing, she transitioned into managing and crafting soft furnishings. Her perfectionism and flair for fabric make her designs both stylish and precise. A true innovator, Laura is loved for her energy and attention to detail.

Matthew Bowen – Frame Maker
Matthew began his carpentry journey straight from school over 22 years ago. With a passion for woodworking, he specialises in creating custom frames for Smallwood’s furniture range. His craftsmanship shapes the foundation of every bespoke piece. Whether cutting or sanding, Matthew’s attention to detail and love for timber ensure every frame is flawless.
